Most importantly, we’ll handle your companion’s case with the utmost compassion, doing everything possible to achieve a positive outcome.
Some of the signs that your pet may require urgent medical attention include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Ingestion of a toxic substance or foreign object
- Broken bones
- Cuts, lacerations or puncture wounds
- Vomiting or diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
- Bleeding
- Trauma, such as from a fall or being hit by a car
- Swollen or tender abdomen
- Difficulty urinating
- Lameness
- Disorientation
- Foaming at the mouth
- Convulsions/seizures
- Loss of consciousness
If you notice any of these signs, seek professional assistance right away. At Sibley Animal Hospital, we always recommend calling ahead whenever an emergency occurs. This allows us to assess the situation, provide first aid instructions and prepare the hospital and our team, and you for your pet’s arrival. Of course, should the nature of your pet’s emergency be too urgent for a phone call, don’t hesitate to come directly in for immediate attention. While our staff is attending to your pet’s needs, please come prepared to provide the necessary information to our Client Services Member to properly admit your pet.
